Welcome to the Sunday Scene

01 April 2007

Hello to all our visitors,

This weekend our webmaster has updated us with the numbers of new people who’ve now visited the website and they’re both gratifying and exciting.  It’s good to know that people who are searching for information and support about widowhood are actually finding our dedicated site and hopefully finding it user friendly helpful, and inspirational.  Please let us know what you think about the Sunday Scene site and we’re always open to suggestions for anything else you’d like to have included.

We especially like to receive responses to our research pages which are there for the benefit of all and are delighted this week to include a reply from May, who has adopted such a positive attitude to her life and circumstances.  Thank you May!

When preparing copy for the website we regularly come up against the problem of addressing both men and women who’ve been widowed, so much so that we’re making it the topic for this month’s research.  Perhaps you hate being referred to as a widow or widower!  Together we can coin a new phrase and if used often enough, can apply to have it included in our standard dictionaries.

Right now, with the long Easter weekend ahead (that could feel like four Sundays all rolled into one), I’m reminded how important it is for us to plan for these occasions if we’re to avoid feeling alone and sad.    It’s always helpful to be pro-active and arrange to fill the days meaningfully rather than let them creep up on us in the hope that something will turn up.  How about arranging to do something just for you that you’ve been meaning to do for ages, something absorbing, creative, stimulating, active, totally self-indulgent or even wildly fantastic!  And if it turns out to be a whale of a success – please tell us about it.
